A few weeks ago we talked about the terrible news of an earthquake in Ecuador of magnitude 7.8 (MW).
The earthquake occurred on 16 April 2016 in the province of Manabí and was the strongest earthquake felt in the country since the Colombia earthquake of 1979, and the most destructive since the Ecuador earthquakes in 1987.
The president, Rafael Correa, declared a national state of exception and a state of emergency in six coastal provinces. According to the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, more than 1 million people were affected by the earthquake.
In this difficult situation, the company Trecx – Pintulac, a distributor for Roberlo and an industry leader in Ecuador, made the decision to actively help its fellow citizens and is carrying out very important work relating to the earthquake.
Pintulac is coordinating aid for people in the affected areas. It has sent backhoes, pneumatic breakers, lighting towers and electrical generators in addition to a group of volunteers, water and food.
Moreover, the necessary material is currently being purchased to construct temporary living units that will house families that have lost their home due to the disaster. Thanks to the contribution of suppliers and collaborators of this company, the forecast for new Temporary Living Units (TLU) has been increased, from an original 15 TLU to a current 100 TLU.
Roberlo has joined in supporting the action and we wanted to convey the message of Pintulac’s great initiative, which, as we understand it, goes beyond that expected of any company.
