Roberlo has transferred its dispatch logistics centre to new and better facilities located in CIM la Selva, very near the Girona-Costa Brava airport and our central office in Riudellots de la Selva.
This improvement allows stock which was previously distributed in four different warehouses to be kept in one place, increasing productivity and efficiency and above all, allowing us to adapt to the constant growth the company has been undergoing in recent years.
The new facilities have 3600 m2 of floor space and a ceiling height of twelve metres. The racks have seven levels capable of holding 7000 pallets, representing a 70% increase compared to the previous storage capacity.
This greater capacity is due in part to a better use of space since in the new facilities the aisles only take up 1.85 m. To be able to work in such small spaces, trilateral forklift trucks were needed (the forks turn 180°) together with an automatically guided rail system.
A truck was also required to transport products over the 3 km which separate the facilities from the central office. This vehicle uses three different trailers, allowing us to load material whilst the truck is elsewhere.
LED Lights: a significant energy saving
A new light system using LEDs and efficient lights with significant energy saving properties has been installed in the new facilities.
LED technology has many advantages: low electricity consumption, high energy efficiency, low light degradation and savings in maintenance costs thanks to its long life. It is also environmentally friendly as it does not contain pollutants such as lead and mercury, unlike other lighting systems.
The LED lights installed will mean an energy saving of at least 50% compared to other industrial lighting methods. To increase energy savings, sensor operated lighting systems will be fitted. This energy saving percentage equates to reducing the C02 released into the atmosphere by 30,000 Kg.
