This autumn we completed the relocation of our paint manufacturing facilities in Santa Cristina d’Aro to Riudellots de la Selva. This has consolidated colour within our production structure and gives it a leading role in Roberlo’s future.
The new location has provided the factory with double the space.
Centralising the main factories has enabled us to make major improvements to our internal processes. The move will allow us to avoid duplication of packaging and raw materials, save on unnecessary transport and make organisational improvements, for example in production planning. The change was also used as an opportunity to make improvements to equipment and safety.
The whole process lasted several months and started with an initial transfer of stock to the new logistics centre in CIM la Selva. The facilities were then adapted so that productive activities could be carried out, and in August the machinery was moved.
Production at the new factory began in September and the volumes increased gradually until the record number of litres manufactured at Santa Cristina was broken in November.
Following the successful installation of LED lighting at Roberlo’s warehouse in CIM la Selva, an LED lighting system was also installed at the new paint factory, which will lead to significant energy savings.
LED technology has been the greatest breakthrough in lighting since the invention of electric light. Roberlo took the decision to use LED lighting because it represents a sustainable, practical and functional option.
The initial cost of LED technology is generally high, but a return on investment is achieved within approximately two and a half years.
The LED lighting that has been installed at the new factory will lead to energy savings of 50% compared to other industrial lighting systems (a saving of 30,000 kWh/year).
